The toothed belt transmission, which has proven itself since the ZR2 compressor, has been optimized again and sets new standards in terms of effectiveness and thermal efficiency. In the current model, too, it forms the basis for efficiently increasing the output of naturally aspirated engines.
The new wing geometry, the gap optimized compressor housing combined with the enlarged inducer side increases the air mass that can be pumped even at low speeds and for the first time a supercharger offers boost pressures on turbo level.
A special drive pulley prevents the belt from slipping without damaging the belt and guarantees reliable power transmission even at high boost pressures.
The compressor continues to be operated with the internal labyrinth oil chamber lubrication. Thus, the oil circuit of the engine remains completely autonomous and the engine does not have to be "drilled" for the compressor lubrication.
Thanks to the relatively low supercharger speed and the oil lubrication that is independent of the engine oil circuit, the compressor is not thermally stressed by external influences and high frictional heat from the bearings. This results in a comparatively low charge air temperature compared to alternative compressor or turbo systems, which enables higher engine performance and applications without charge air cooling.
A water-cooled intercooler is recommended for further increases in performance. Advantage: shorter paths for the charge air, resulting in more spontaneous response and lower resistance than air/air coolers.
